Family run since the 20th century the hotel stands proudly on its own gracing the slopes of the picturesque Wengernalp. These days with just 24 individually styled rooms it has secured its place as one of the most charming Alpine hotels, while continuing the tradition of gracious hospitality and fine cuisine. Guests who return again and again, often with their young families, do so not just for the beauty and tranquility of the mountains but in the knowledge that the experience is unparalleled.

Over the years a number of articles about the Hotel Jungfrau Wengernalp have been published. Travel guides, National newspapers and lifestyle magazines have all sung our praises in the past ... while today we appear regularly in various online and social media platforms. So for your interest we have compiled a few articles below as PDFs that you may enjoy reading. The style of reporting and the language has no doubt changed over the years, but our regular guests can take comfort from the fact that the Hotel Jungfrau Wengernalp remains unchanged - true as always to our core values.

The Hotel Jungfrau has a long history that dates back to the beginning of touring the Alps in the 18th century. First mentioned in a formative German travel book "Die Eisgebirge Des Schweizerlandes" by Gottlieb S. Gruner, published in 1760 it has undergone many significant changes since. Starting life as a primitive mountain hut it was then converted into a shelter providing food and drink to weary travellers. By the early 19th century it became a popular mountain inn and by 1865 it was opened as the Hotel Jungfrau that we know today. Over the years many famous composers, poets, writers and artists have stayed here and an intriguing collection of well known drawings, prints and photographs record the history and events that are detailed in the late Kaspar von Almen's story of the Wengernalp (hotel proprietor from 1958 - 2007).
