Wengernalp with its sunny sheltered terraces is situated opposite the Northern glacial walls of the the famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains The first mention of this delightful spot can be traced back as far as 1776, when the Wengernalp was praised in a travel-report. However it was the awakening interest for the Alps during the 18th century, that led the Wengernalp to its world-famous standing today. The Hotel Jungfrau stands on its own at Wengernalp, at a height of 1900 surrounded by a world of peace and tranquillity. This traditional family-run hotel, originating from the 19th century, has been lovingly restored and modernised in several stages, and by today’s standards is considered one of the most charming hotels in the Alps which is especially attractive to families with its pure mountain air. Transport is close at hand. The Wengernalp train station and Jungfrau railway are conveniently reached and winter sport enthusiasts are able to get to the chairlifts after only a brief descent
